Rathangan —County Kildare
Rathangan is a small town to the west of the county. Much of the present town developed soon after 1784 when the Grand Canal was built southwards and thus the town's unique layout resulted as the houses were built for the canal engineers. Rathangan attracts numerous anglers to its fine stretches of water. There is plenty of opportunity for walking and fishing. Just outside of the village is Lullymore Discovery Park. It is an ideal venue for families where fun and education can be combined and enjoyed. Among the facilities at the attraction are Heritage Exhibits, An Early Christian Centre and a large playground. Lullymore Heritage Park is well worth a visit. Parachuting and Canal Barges are also among the interesting activities one can do in the town.
