All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships 2013
Ballymena
23 August 2013 - 25 August 2013
The All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships are held annually, attracting coastal rowers from all over Ireland to compete at the highest level in their sport.
Races are held on a multi-lane, multi-turn course, laid and maintained at sea over the three day regatta. Heats are generally run on the Friday and Saturday with the climax of the event being the finals held on the Sunday.
The event will see over 65 clubs from all over the coast of Ireland visiting Carnlough, the wider Glens region. In addition to the championships’ events and activities within the village, it will also build on the heritage element of the regatta which marks the 110th birthday of the oldest operational coastal rowing boat on the island, the “Twilight”. Moreover, with the guaranteed carnival atmosphere ongoing in the village throughout the championships, the tourism potential for the local and wider area cannot be understated.
