Larne Half Marathon
Larne
08 June 2012 - 08 June 2012
Sporting Event - LARNE Athletic Club have announced that entries are well underway for the AES Ballylumford Larne Half Marathon on Saturday 08th June 2013. This year the organisers can confirm an exciting new course, following the length of Larne Main Street for the first time and will incorporate live music along the 13.1 mile route. Chaine FM will play at the start and finish line, a jazz band will play along the Main Street and Bongo Drums at Drainsbay car park. This will go some way to creating a unique experience for both runners and spectators. The course will remain by far the most scenic half marathon on road in the United Kingdom taking in the spectacular scenery of the Causeway Coastal Route with its sheer cliffs on one side and sea views on the other.
Not only does the event enable fun runners, joggers and club athletes to take part, but for those planning to complete a full marathon the event is excellent preparation particularly for the Belfast Marathon in May. The race is the first in the NI Athletics Half Marathon Grand Prix Series while for those not wishing to run the entire distance there is the opportunity to run as part of a relay team or to walk the course, both of which have proved extremely popular in recent years.
The Larne Half Marathon continues to grow from strength to strength and for the 2013 event some 1,500 runners are expected to enter. Organisers are encouraging everyone to get their entry in early by visiting the online entry website www.larnehalfmarathon.com
