With the discovery and publication of the biography of Eliza Lynch (the so-called Queen of Paraguay) in 2009, and the discovery of her birth in Charleville, the town held an inaugural literary and historical weekend. The Eliza Lynch Weekend will consist of historical talks and tours, book launches, school art, poetry and debating competitions, art exhibitions, a major poetry event as well as other activities to be organised around the town. It is hoped to foster the connection between Paraguay and Charleville as well as South America in general.
