Gaelforce Cycle West
Newport
19 June 2010
A new 24-hour challenge has been set by the organisers of the extremely popular Gaelforce West adventure race. Gaelforce Cycle West was launched in the Galway Discover Ireland Centre on Friday 19th June, as part of the National Bike Week, and takes place on the 19th June 2010. Starting and finishing in the Nephin Beg Mountain Range, Co Mayo, the route is roughly 47 km and takes in some of the most stunning scenery in the country. Competitors will have the opportunity to take in famous beauty spots such as Clew Bay, Clare Island and Croagh Patrick. There are two challenges aimed at both mountain bikers and road bikers. The challenges are open to the hard core and Sunday cyclists as there are a variety of categories on offer from soloists to teams of 10. Breathe easy, you won’t be expected to cycle for 24 hours, unless you wish to!! Team members work in a relay system with only one member on the course at a time.
