New Ross Piano Festival has been described as a 'gem of a festival' by one reviewer, and celebrates its 7th year in 2012. It is an intimate and concentrated immersion into the enormous variety of repertoire for what is often called the king of the instruments. Each year at least five national and international pianists attend, three of whom share the platform at a number of concerts, which makes for a fascinating experience for the audience. Other pianists give solo recitals; outreach programmes for students and young people; a masterclass open to the public; jazz al fresco in the street; and 'play me' pianos in odd places. There is always a small element of chamber music - with piano, of course. Booking essential.
