The Tempest at Wells House
Gorey
27 July 2013
William Shakespeare's The Tempest is bound for Wells House and Gardens in July. The play will be staged in front of Wells House – a magnificent setting for this dynamic and colourful production. In 1609, the Flagship of the Virginia Company of London, the Sea Venture, foundered on the coast of Bermuda on her maiden voyage. All 150 people on board, and one dog, were landed safely and were later picked up and continued on to America. Shakespeare wrote The Tempest in 1610/11, to some extent inspired by the fate of the Sea Venture. Travelling Light Theatre premieres its new production of The Tempest at Wells House and Gardens on Saturday, 6 July and round-off their Summer Tour back at Wells on Saturday, 27 July. Performances are all-weather except for lightning storms! The play is eminently suitable for all ages and audience members are encouraged to bring cushions, blankets and picnics to get the most of this summer's evening treat! Begins at 7.30pm.
