Global Open Water Swimming Conference 2013

The Annual Global Open Water Swimming Conference will take place for the first time outside the USA. The conference will present current research results on Maritime Environmental Topics, the Physiological Effects on the body due to long-term immersion in water and talks on Marathon Swimming Events such as the Oceans 7 Challenge as well as a colloquium on Safety in Open Water Swimming. In addition the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame (IMSHOF) will induct new members to the Hall of Fame and the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA) will present awards to the 2012 class of WOWSA Award Winners. The famous Sandycove Island, training ground for many Irish and overseas English Channel aspirants, will be the location of the final event of the conference, which is a 1-lap or multiple-lap swim (depending on conditions on the day) around the island in the company of the resident herd of goats!
