The Clancy Brothers Music and Arts Festival

Carrick On Suir

31 May 2013 - 04 June 2013

On June Bank holiday weekend, music, art and tradition will flow through the streets of Carrick-On-Suir yet again as The Clancy Brothers Music and Arts festival takes place. This year the festival is delighted to announce that Damien Dempsey will be headlining the festival at the strand theatre on the 31st of May. The festival honors the musical legacy of the influential Irish folk music group of the 1960s, ‘The Clancy Brothers’ whose home town was Carrick-On-Suir and who are credited with popularising Irish traditional music in the United States. The brothers recorded dozens of albums together as, ‘The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem’. They were a primary influence on a young Bob Dylan and on many other emerging artists and their legacy is celebrated at their hometown annual festival. Now in its 6th year The Clancy Brothers Music and Arts Festival celebrates local and international talent each year. Past festivals have included headline perfomances from the likes of Liam Clancy, The High Kings, Frankie Gavin and De Dannan, Paul Brady, Sharon Shannon, Mundy, Paddy Casey, John Spillane among numerous others. The Festival embraces the local community and showcases the local exceptional talent in performing, visual & multi-disciplinary arts. As well as a variety of fun and entertaining ticketed events, there are also amazing free family fun days & extraordinary sporting events. Carrick-on-Suir boasts so much talent for a small community and The Clancy Festival is the perfect platform from which to showcase local talent as well as national and international artists.
