BeatlesFest on the Lough
Greencastle
29 August 2013 - 01 September 2013
This is the 7th year of the BeatlesFest, Ireland's only annual festival of Beatles and sixties music. It takes place in the picturesque towns of Moville and Greencastle. The BeatlesFest takes place in the pubs of the two towns, in the streets and on the shore of Lough Foyle over 5 days. Open mics are encouraged. It will be attended, as usual, by Tony Bramwell. Tony was a childhood friend of George Harrison and Paul McCartney. He became their road manager throughout all the Beatles years. He was also their P.R guy and their talent scout, discovering, amongst others, James Taylor and later Eva Cassidy. He also 'discovered' Paul Simon and Queen years before they eventually became famous, but was turned down by first Brian Epstein and then John Lennon. Tony became joint head of Apple Records and head of Apple films. He has an M.T.V award as a pioneer of pop videos and shows the early Beatles videos he took at the BeatlesFest. Moville is just 17 miles along the lough road from Derry. It is 20 miles from the City of Derry airport from where Ryanair fly to Stansted, Glasgow, Liverpool and Birmingham. The two Belfast airports are 1.5 hours away. The airport bus runs from just outside the airports to Derry where a bus can be caught to Moville.
