The Blaskets & Dingle Peninsula Welcome Home Week is a full week of social and cultural events for the families of Dingle Peninsula emigrants from anywhere in the world, but especially those in Springfield MA, USA. Enjoy tours, pub sessions, mutton pie night, a seafood banquet, film shows to include 'Blasket Roots/American Dreams' and Ryan's Daughter, excursion to Tralee shopping malls and the presentation of 'Oilean' (the story of Great Blasket Island) in Siamsa Tíre and 'an emigrants' trail' to Cobh, Cork. You can expect other impromptu events in this lively town and countryside ... renowned for its scenery and friendliness. And oh, yes, a trip out to Dingle Harbour to see 'Fungi' the famous dolphin with the option of going further out to the mouth of Dingle Bay, to do a Blasket Islands 'eco tour' (weather permitting). Programme is flexible and informal and there is plenty for everyone! 2013 dates to be confirmed.
