International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival 2013

Dublin City

06 May 2013 - 19 May 2013

This tenth anniversary International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival takes place in venues across Dublin city centre and will feature a diverse programme of drama, musical theatre, music and comedy over two weeks. Founded in 2004 to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth in Dublin of Oscar Wilde, the IDGTF has grown to become the largest of festival its kind in the world. It showcases works with a gay theme or playwright or addressing broader themes of masculinity, feminism, gender-identity and sexuality and presents these to a diverse, mainstream audience. Many works are Irish, European or world premieres and are performed by a wide variety of artists, in a diverse programme of over 30 plays carefully selected from over 100 submissions. The 2013 programme includes works from the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, France, the Netherlands and Argentina as well as the best in new Irish writing. There will also be a range of free events including play-readings and a seminar on gay theatre as well as a nightly Festival Club. Do not miss the closing Gala Awards Night on Sunday May 19th featuring highlights of the Festival and presentation of our annual awards. The programme changes entirely each week. Weekend and Bank Holiday matinees start at only €10. For our full programme and secure online booking see our website. Our box office and phone booking open in late April. Patrons include Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, award-winning author Emma Donoghue and Senator David Norris.
