Bowen/Trevor Literary Festival
Mitchelstown
19 July 2013 - 21 July 2013
The Bowen/Trevor Literary Festival 2013 is a consideration of the works of William Trevor and Elizabeth Bowen. In the wider context, it also looks at the impact of the Irish short story and Irish literature in general on the literary world. This annual festival has looked at the works of most of the better known short story writers over the years while ensuring that at least one talk each year featured the works of both Mitchelstown born William Trevor and Elizabeth Bowen, who owned Bowenscourt which was located in nearby Kildorrery. Elizabeth Bowen died in 1973 and so the 2013 event will commemorate the 40th anniversary of her death by devoting most of the weekend to talks about her writing.
