For one week in July, the bustling town of Ballina, Co. Mayo set on the idyllic banks of the River Moy, comes alive with the Ballina Salmon Festival. Every year some 200,000 people descend on the Salmon Capital of Ireland to enjoy the seven day festival, which boasts a jam-packed calendar of events! This is a festival with something for everybody with the Golf Classic, Pub Tug-o-War or Powerade Triathlon for the more outdoor types, The Lady of the Moy for the beauty & poise, The Custom & Classic Bike Show, Honda Step thru or the Krazy Kart Challenge for mechanically minded, Afternoon Tea Dance, Mayo's Got Talent for the brilliant, Heritage Day for the traditionalists, fireworks, Mardi Gras, Go Bananas, or It's a Knockout for those simply seeking a great night's entertainment! Not to be outdone, The Ballina Salmon Festival boasts a full week of children's activities & events from art workshops, to treasure hunts, fishing by the canal, puppet show & disco topped off the always anticipated Teddy Bear's Picnic to round off the week.
