Duncannon Fort Annual Military Vehicle Re-enactment

The Military & Vehicle Multi-Period Re-enactment at Duncannon Fort is will showcase re-enactors from the middle ages through to the present times & military vehicles from a number of different armies. Red Coats and United Irishmen of 1798 will re-live their period and will be one of the main events of the week-end, with the outcome of the Rebellion hanging in the balance in more ways than one. The American War of Independence will also be represented. American Civil War troops both Union and Confederate will be on display and re-enact life during the American Civil War of the 1860's. WW1 troops will have a living history display of what it was like during the 1914-18 Great War and will be on hand to sign up anyone wishing to go on a dream trip to the trenches. Medieval archers will give an archery display and you can also see medieval foot soldiers. Irish troops of the period 1935-41 will be on hand to keep an eye out for any sign of invasion, which may present itself in the form of troops from the 56th Division of the London Irish Rifles 1939-45. The WW2 German Army of Battle Group South may try to land and control events, but the American 101st airborne who will advance from the west and will be seen to put up a last ditch defence. In the end as history tells Irish Neutrality will prevail and all illusions of foreign invaders will fade away. A number of military veterans will be attending and we would like to extend a warm welcome to all veterans who may wish to attend and view the items and vehicles on display. The show is open on both days from 11am to 5pm
