Sligo Festival of Baroque Music

Sligo Town

27 September 2013 - 29 September 2013

Sligo Festival of Baroque Music will feature two major performers in 2013, the celebrated French cellist Ophélie Gaillard and Spanish soprano Nuria Rial, both appearing for the first time in Ireland. Ophélie Gaillard will perform all Bach cello suits (this following Malcolm Proud performing all Bach keyboard partitas in 2011 and Maya Homburger playing bach unaccompanied Violin sonatas/partitas in 2012). She will also be accompanied by members of Pulcinella, the French chamber ensemble made up of really gifted younger generation baroque instrumentalists and they will perform with soprano Nuria Rial in a programme of Handel arias and cantatas. Two other aspects to the festival's 2013 programme are a concert devised by Director Rod Alston and viola da Gamba player Sarah Grosser featuring the contrasting styles of English and French Gamba music and also the Galway based instrument maker Paul Doyle, who will lead a workshop on historical string instruments.
