Cork Folk Festival

Cork City

10 October 2013 - 13 October 2013

The Cork Folk Festival is an annual music event that takes place in Ireland's southern capital, Cork. The 34 year old festival is one of the most important folk and traditional music events in Ireland and has a growing reputation in Europe. Performances take place in concert halls, music venues, in 30 bars and on the streets. It features concerts with international, cutting edge and established artists plus lectures, workshops, children's events, and Irish dancing. The event has a strong focus on local Cork City, Sliabh Luachra and Cuil Aodha music and song, so prepare for plenty of polkas, slides and harrier ballads. Over the years all the most celebrated Irish folk and traditional acts have played at the festival including Paul Brady, Altan, John Spillane, Lunasa, Christy Moore and the Chieftains. So, if you would like to hear a session with flutes and uilleann pipes in a snug or see legendary Irish musicians in concert then the Cork Folk Festival is a good choice.
