Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival
Dunshaughlin
26 September 2013 - 29 September 2013
Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival is a music, food & craft family festival in Meath. There are food markets & cookery demonstrations, live music, drama in the old courthouse & fun activities for all the family. Heritage trails, genealogy advice and historical tours showcase the rich heritage of the greater Dunshaughlin area. Children love the village games and sports, the petting farm, the science & music workshops and the arts & crafts tent. Try on a helmet during the local fire-fighter demonstrations; watch the farrier shoe a horse in the local forge; see basket weaving, pottery making, and woodturning; as well as the vintage cars and tractors on display. Get your creative juices flowing and design a robot, make a scarecrow, or build a go-kart and enter the hilarious Soap Box Derby. This year why not join in the quirky village parade or grab a chair and help build on the massive success of the 2012 Musical Chairs event which was the biggest (we think) and most hilarious (we know) such event in Ireland. Wander through the pop-up shops and view the paintings, photography, short stories and poems entered in the festival competitions. In its inaugural year in 2011, Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival won a Meath Tourism & Business award and a Dunshaughlin Community award and has been nominated for several awards after the 2012 festival. Just 30 minutes by bus or car from Dublin city centre and within an hour's drive of Kildare, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth and Westmeath, Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival 2013 is a fantastic day out or weekend away!
