Bray Jazz Festival

Bray

03 May 2013 - 05 May 2013

Billed as 'one of the very best small jazz festivals in Europe' (All About Jazz), Bray Jazz Festival enjoys a burgeoning reputation for presenting some of the very best names in contemporary jazz and world music. Boutique in scale, the May Bank Holiday weekend festival enjoys a reputation for quality in its festival programme. The event has been described as 'the connoisseur's jazz festival' (The Irish Times), but it is nonetheless an occasion for both the uninitiated, and for the fan of contemporary jazz. The 2012 programme reflected well the quality and calibre of Bray Jazz Festival with performances by Grammy Award winning Peruvian chanteuse Susanna Baca, by celebrated Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen's Trio, and by the great American clarinetist Don Byron, while elsewhere there were showcase performances by the brightest and best of contemporary jazz talent in Ireland - a feature of Bray Jazz programming. Expect more of the same in 2013, as Bray Jazz tilts at contemporary European jazz - in recognition of Ireland's presidency of the European Union during the first half of the year. Bray Jazz Festival was established in the Millennium year, and is the largest and longest established jazz weekend taking place annually within the Greater Dublin area.
