Storytelling Southeast
Dungarvan
25 September 2013 - 29 September 2013
Storytelling Southeast is a festival of discovery, a celebration of diversity. Over 5 days we explore how stories are told and shared today. While traditional elements are included in the programme, the emphasis is on the contemporary and how the different artistic expression connect around the story. The narrative is the driving force. 70 events over 5 days allow young and old to discover the richness of this cultural tapestry. Storytelling by candle light in atmospheric pub settings, music and play in theatres and outdoors, readings and workshops with visiting international and national poets and authors, film screenings and talks about the process of telling stories on film... Storytelling Southeast aims to be inclusive and encourages exploration and dialogue. For a 2nd year the event focuses on new writing from Canada, especially Newfoundland, and stories and music from Brittany, with performers and artists from these regions mixing with national and local talent to celebrate the story and the arts. Intimate and atmospheric events are blended with family and outdoors elements to create a unique and festive atmosphere.
