Since 1992, the annual William Carleton Summer School has celebrated the life and works of the famous 19th century novelist, described by Yeats as the first and greatest of the authentically Irish writers.
Held over four days at the start of August, the Summer School offers talks and debates with Carleton scholars, a literary symposium and a coach tour of Carleton country led by a historian.
