The 2013 National Show is a wonderful opportunity to view the Irish Draught Horse, a part of Ireland's living heritage. It is the horse of Ireland, a capable all round performer in many disciplines and an ideal mount for the leisure rider. At the national show you will see beautiful foals exhibited beside their mothers and a wide range of prize winners and national champions of all ages. There will be ridden classes and performance classes showing the versatility of the Irish Draught. Come along to the show to meet owners and breeders of this special horse. You will feel very welcome, as enthusiasts willingly engage with you and share their knowledge. The Irish Draught is a strong element in the pedigree of many of the world's most successful sport horses. Leading eventer, Mr Medicott, has 37.5% Irish Draught pedigree and Lenamore has 50%, while world show jumping champion, Flexible, has 25% Irish Draught pedigree and Larkhill Cruiser has 75%. The Irish Draught Horse thrives on the challenges of cross country, its positive attitude is an advantage in dressage, while its power and careful disposition lead to success in show jumping.
