Lanesboro 'Two Provinces' Sprint Triathlon consists of a 750 metres swim in Lough Ree, followed by a 20 kilometres bike ride over a flat route, finishing with a 5 kilometres run over a fast, scenic course. Individual or relay team entries. Date TBC. The Triathlon race is being held in the picturesque towns of Lanesboro and Ballyleague on the banks of the River Shannon, where the communities of both sides of the Shannon look forward to welcoming athletes and their families to the area. The organisers pride themselves on the precise accuracy of their race and this was highly commented on last year. Many of the athletes that raced last year have already committed to return to Lanesboro to race because they were looked after so well and competitors can be sure that the Lanesboro hospitality will be in abundance again and a fantastic time is guaranteed for all that attend. There shall also be a Kids Triathlon race on the day open to 8-15 year olds and consisting of a 100 metres swim, 1 kilometre bike race on a closed road and a 500 metres run on grass. Medals will be presented to all participants and wetsuits for the swim section are compulsory. There will be food and refreshments for all participants after the event. Date to be confirmed.
