Western Ocean Walking Weekend
Belmullet
02 August 2013 - 05 August 2013
The Western Ocean Walking Weekend is a 3-day guided walking weekend in northwest Mayo. Dominated by the North Atlantic, this corner of Mayo is a spectacular landscape of Atlantic blanket bog, high sea cliffs and low-lying peninsula. The wonderful cliff-top walk at An Ceathrú Thaidhg, in the far corner of NW Mayo, is followed with a second stroll on Erris Head's beautiful cliff-top. Spend a day out on the wonderful, evocative Iniskea islands, deserted since the 1930s and now home to many seabirds and grey seals. The boat trip is wonderful and the island an experience you will never forget. Walk the low-lying Mullet peninsula, with its fabulous beaches and views to take the breath away. A visit to a ruined church in a stunning location, plus the local heritage centre, Ionad Deirbhile, fill the day. Stay in two lovely local B&Bs and use the services of a local boat owner for the island trip. This package includes three nights B&B, three packed lunches plus three dinners, along with minibus transfer from and back to Castlebar train station. No need to bring the car to Mayo!
