Cork City Marathon
Cork City
03 June 2013
Cork City Marathon offers first timers and experienced athletes alike the option of running the full marathon (26.2 miles) on their own or as part of a relay team of up to five people. There's also an extremely popular half marathon (13.1 miles), and for younger participants there's a Youth Team Relay. Introduced in 2012, the Inter-Services Championships for uniformed service personnel is a competitive and very enjoyable addition to this running festival. With a fast, varied and scenic course, and with legendary support from the Cork public and a volunteer team of almost 500, the Cork Marathon is a race that people come back to again and again. Hear the rhythmic pounding of feet as you run under the River Lee, through the Jack Lynch Tunnel at Dunkettle. Run the leafy line of the Old Passage West railway. Savour the spectacular finish on St Patrick's Street, the city centre's main street. And after you've recovered, enjoy an evening in the festive atmosphere of the city. Whether you're running for a personal best, aiming for that once-in-a-lifetime achievement, walking to stay healthy, raising funds for a worthy cause, or simply doing it for enjoyment, come and join in the 2013 Cork City Marathon!
