Feile Bride - Brigid's Festival

Kildare Town

27 January 2013 - 03 February 2013

celebrate the heritage and legacy of Brigid of Ireland – in a series of events incorporating workshops, music, a peace and justice conference and a pilgrimage to St. Brigid's Well. Traditions and customs associated with Brigid are celebrated during the festival. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the craft of weaving a St. Brigid's cross. A candlelight pilgrimage to St. Brigid's well on 31 January draws hundreds of people. The celebration of St. Brigid's Day usually incorporates an element of surprise! A peace and justice conference is organised in partnership with Afri-Action from Ireland, an annual Celtic Lecture is hosted by the Education Centre, Kildare. Artists entertain those who come to a feast of poetry, music and song throughout the week. Feile Bride attracts people, 'who want to celebrate the coming of spring, and who want to call Brigid's qualities into the world, to light a spark for change' (Luka Bloom). 2013 has been declared 'The Gathering Year' so come join us ... a Cead Mile Fáilte to all!
