TriAthy is a spectacular sporting event which takes place annually at Athy, Co. Kildare. The majestic River Barrow and the heritage town of Athy combine to provide a stunning backdrop to this thrilling sport! Participants get to swim the River Barrow, cycle on closed roads, and run alongside the riverbank before finishing in the intimate surrounds of Emily Square at Athy. There is a race for everyone at TriAthy and there are four race distances to choose from. TRYAthy is aimed at beginners to the sport and involves a 400m downstream swim, a 20km cycle and a light 3.6km run. The SPRINT race is slightly longer with a 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run. The popular OLYMPIC race combines a 1,500m swim, 40km cycle and 10km run, while the challenging DOUBLE OLYMPIC race really tests veterans with a 3,000m swim, 80km cycle and 20km run. Entries are open to individuals seeking to take on all three disciplines or relay teams of 2 or 3. Since 2007 TriAthy has attracted thousands of participants many of whom return each year to test their mettle on this fast course and push for that PB time. Over 2,500 entrants are expected in 2013. We hope you can join in for another great triathlon event by the banks of the River Barrow.
