The Nautilus Centre overlooks Kilkeel's busy and picturesque fishing port and houses the Mourne Maritime Visitor Centre, Kilkeel Tourist Information Centre and Mourne Seafood Cookery School. The scenery can be admired while enjoying a meal in the first floor restaurant.
There is a multi media system which at the touch of the computer screen will tell you everything you could ever wish to know about fishing in Kilkeel port.
The Maritime Visitor Centre is the focal point of the building and tells the story of the local fishing and maritime heritage, with touch screen technology.
There is a reconstruction of a wheelhouse where kids, both young and old, can have a go at being skipper and learn about life on board. It also houses the "Anna" skiff which was the pride of the herring fleet when Kilkeel was also home to tall ships that carried granite and grain to ports all over the UK and Ireland.
There are craft activities for kids when they visit, as well as gifts to browse through.
The Nautilus Centre is also home to the Northern Ireland headquarters of the Royal National Mission for Deep Sea Fishermen. If you venture to the rear of the centre you will see 12 stores which are used by local fishermen.
Lift and Stair, € Accepted.
