Atlantic Airventure

Add to My Ireland Shannon Clare - Ireland West

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly a jet airliner? Experience this skill on a full-scale Boeing 737-80 Flight Simulator at the Atlantic AirVenture Aviation Centre. The only one of its kind in Ireland, the centre is a unique place for adults and kids, groups and individuals, to learn about the world of flight in a pure aviation environment. The 737 flight simulator is constructed using the cockpit section of a real aircraft which was in service for over 30 years. Its flight deck features many original Boeing parts, such as the control columns and throttle which add to the incredible realism of this unforgettable experience. Take a virtual flying lesson on a typical training aircraft with a qualified pilot, or budding aerobatic pilots and thrill seekers can fly the Red Bull Extra 300 in a race to JFK Airport, including the Statue of Liberty and then under the Brooklyn Bridge. Flight package details are tailored for corporate teambuilding, primary school pupils, social club outings, special needs groups, stags and hens groups and family occasions such as kids birthdays, Communion and Confirmation. Courses are even provided for Cubs and Scouts to complete their Air Badge requirements. The Centre also houses the Shannon Aviation Museum where you can learn about Shannon Airport’s unique history and contribution to global aviation. See the timeless 'Voices of Irish Aviation', a video history of some of the characters who developed and pioneered Irish Aviation. Museum memorabilia and exhibits include a BAC 1-11 cockpit and fuselage section, repainted in its original 1969 BAE livery, a BAe 146 flight simulator project, Phantom F4 rudders, Rolls Royce Avon and Conway engines, plus historical Celestial Navigation instruments from the 1940’s. See the Atlantic Airventure website for upcoming events and shows throughout the year.
