Lough Arrow

Add to My Ireland Ballinafad Sligo - Ireland West

The trout in Lough Arrow average 1.5lb and fish to 5 or 6lb are taken every season. The lake is four miles north west of Boyle, six miles from Ballymote and three miles from Ballyfarnon. This is a limestone lake and it is mainly spring fed. There is good public access around the shore, the principal access points are Brick Pier, Ballinafad Pier and Rinnbawn Pier. The duckfly hatches in late March and early April and the olives begin hatching around mid April and last until mid May. The mayfly season generally begins about 17 May and lasts until the second week of June. The spent gnat fishing is one of the great attractions of Lough Arrow. The fishing is free.
