Spirits of Meath Halloween Festival

Spirits of Meath Halloween Festival

Add to My Ireland Trim Meath - Ireland East

Samhain, the ancient Celtic Festival that we now call Halloween originated in County Meath, part of the Boyne Valley, more than 2,000 years ago. Samhain marks the end of the old Celtic year and the beginning of the New Year. It was at the Hill of Ward outside Athboy, that the sacred fire was kindled. Torches were lit from this sacred fire and carried to seven other hills around County Meath and then on to light up hills around the country. This is the 5th consecutive year and Meath Tourism will promote Ireland's biggest Halloween festival bringing children and adults alike to over 30 terrifying events. From 'house of horrors' to Halloween fun; from friendly witches to spooks and spells; from crafty witches to creep crazy cuisine; from fancy dress to candlelit tours; from pumpkin carving to Halloween 'trick or treat days' – there is something. There are 'scarily' good accommodation offers - and lots of the events are free of charge! Check out the website for the up-to-date information on this year's festival or email info@meathtourism.ie for a copy of your free programme of events. Date to be confirmed.
