For the viewing of ancient ecclesiastical ruins, people can stop in the village of Killahan, which is located in County Kerry, just 14km north of Tralee. There, the ruins of a 7th-century church known as Tonaknock Abbey still stand. It was a collegiate church built for the Canon Regular and included a centre for the education of its priests. It continued to operate until 1600. On the grounds, visitors will also enjoy seeing a 9th-century Celtic High Cross thought to mark the burial place of a bishop.
