Racing in Clonmel on Thursday 6th September 2012. A popular venue for horse racing for more than one hundred and fifty years, Clonmel Racecourse ( Powerstown Park ) in County Tipperary, is a place of excitement, entertainment and unparalleled natural beauty. Race meetings usually consist of 6 or 7 races with 30 minute interval between races. Gates open approximately 2 hours prior to the first race. Admission is normally €15 including Sundays and Clonmel Oil raceday. Tickets can be purchased at the gate on the day or purchased in advance at our on line ticket sales shop. Discounts available on bulk ticket purchases also discounts apply to senior citizens with a valid pension book and students with a valid student card For all the enjoyment on offer, the racing is taken seriously and has featured some of the biggest names in the industry, such as the celebrated Beef or Salmon, Danoli and the ever-popular Doran's Pride. Powerstown is recognised as a demanding national hunt course and features a stiff uphill climb, followed by a gradual downhill run with an uphill finish. With exceptional views of racing from all points in the enclosure, the one hundred and sixty acre park is simply an ideal location. Powerstown is conveniently located within easy distance of Waterford, Cork and Shannon airports and near the historic town of Clonmel.
