Leave Castlebar on the N5 road, and take the N26 for Straide - the birthplace of Michael Davitt who established the Land League in the 1800's to fight for the rights of Irish tenants. Continue from here to Foxford, visiting the Foxford Woolen Mills Visitors' Centre. Then continue on the N57 to Ballina, the renowned angling centre, being close to excellent river, lake and sea waters. At Ballina, take the N59 for Crossmolina. As you take the R310 south, you will see Enniscroe House, located 3km from Crossmolina. Continue on to Pontoon by the western shore of Lough Conn. This is a teriffic angling centre, located between Lough Conn and Lough Cullin. Go left at Pontoon taking the scenic road. This will bring you back to Foxford and to Castlebar.
