Just off the N70 between Waterville and Cahersiveen in the Gaeltacht village of Dun Geagan, Ballinskelligs is the Cill Rialaig Arts Centre. This restored pre-famine village on Bolus Head is set in one of the great, untouched rural landscapes of Southwest Kerry. It offers the local community and the general public the opportunity to view the work of the many artists who’ve been in residence here. The Cill Rialaig Arts Centre features a wide range of exhibitions, programs and workshops year round. Over 2,600 artists, writers, poets and composers have worked and lived here making it an important centre for creativity. Cill Rialaig’s Art Café, ‘Casey’s Kitchen’ is open in Summer and serves delicious food. Nearby are family-friendly beaches, great walks, heritage sites, and friendly pubs. Spirituality, history and legend are in evidence in many ancient archaeological sites in Ballinskelligs from the iconic McCarthy Tower to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Skellig Michael - one of the earliest and most well preserved, Christian spiritual centres in Ireland.
