Punchestown Racecourse
Punchestown Kildare - Ireland EastIt is no exaggeration to say that Punchestown, Naas, Co. Kildare, is the home of some of the finest jump racing in the world. The Spring Festival, a five-day racing spectacular, attracts the finest names in the business. The big players from the Fairyhouse, Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals battle it out once more and horses from Ireland, Britain, and to a lesser extent France, reopen old wounds and fight to hold their place or topple previous champions. With €3million prize money for the taking, racing doesn’t get more enthralling than this. Autumn and winter also see many first-rate fixtures such as the John Durkan Memorial Chase in December, which counts the wonder-horse Beef or Salmon as a past winner, and the wonderfully festive New Years Eve meeting. Punchestown is a serious racecourse for serious players, but we’ve got the skill of mixing business with pleasure down to a fine art; they still know how to have fun.
