If you’re into wild, coastal scenery, the Sheep’s Head peninsula, jutting out into the crashing Atlantic Ocean, is for you. The shorter and easier of these two walks takes you to the very tip, along sheer cliffs (watch your step!) and rocky outcrops and even past a lighthouse. The longer route explores the northern shore and the 239m-high Ballyroon Mountain – from the summit you can see both sides of the peninsula. Despite its beauty, this is quite an untouristy area and cars are not allowed everywhere so you can really connect with nature.
