Moone —County Kildare

Moone, Timolin and Ballitore are a cluster of small villages in south Co. Kildare. Moone is famous for its granite High Cross and is one of the finest examples of high crosses in Ireland. This area was inhabited 6,000 years ago, which makes it one of the oldest inhabited areas in the country.
In Timolin there is a pewter mill and gift shop. Visitors can view casting taking place (usually in the morning) and there is a showroom where Celtic Jewellery can be bought.
The first Quakers to settle in Ireland settled in Ballitore in 1685. The Ballitore Quaker Museum is situated in the Quaker Meeting House; the Museum contains a collection of artefacts on the Quaker settlement in Ballitore.
