Carlow, Ireland’s second smallest county, is a glistening jewel in the heart of the sunny South East. The rich pasturelands, green countryside, colorful mountains and tranquil River Barrow lend a scenic air to a county that is stepped in pre-Celtic heritage.

Whether you long to let your imagination run wild over ancient dolmens, or you dream of gliding peacefully along deserted riverways on your very own barge, Carlow is an inspirational destination.

Did you know?

The Courthouse in Carlow town was built in 1830 and was based on the Temple of Llissus in Athens. It’s now considered to be the finest courthouse in the country. It was apparently intended for Cork City, but the plans got mixed up and Carlow got lucky instead!
