Bank hours

Banks are open from 9am-4pm Monday to Friday with late opening until 5pm on Thursdays. Waterford is well served with countless ATM machines, most of which will accept Cirrus.

Dial 999 or 112 for fire, Garda (police) and ambulances.

Getting around

Waterford City is a small city and is easily navigated on foot. Bus Éireann provides services all over the South. For information on times, tickets and prices tel: ++ 353 1 836 6111 or log onto Bus Eireann. For information on rail services contact Iarnród Éireann at Irish Rail.

Parking

A disc parking system is operational in Waterford City center. Disks for on-street parking are available at numerous locations throughout the city, as well as at City Council offices, at a cost of €1.40 (one disc) per hour. Failure to display a disc results in clamping and heavy fines.

Shopping

Shopping hours are generally 9am-6pm Monday to Saturday with late opening until 8pm on Thursday. Most shops are also now open on Sunday from 12pm-6pm.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted anywhere indoors in Waterford City, except in hotel rooms and private accommodation.
