Ardara Donegal - Ireland West

The Bungalow is a nicely presented four bedroom house set in its own grounds. Parking is provided the area is securely gated and very private. The house is situated 1.5 km from the Heritage village of Ardara on the Killybegs Road. Ardara is one of the most attractive towns in Donegal and was voted the friendliest town in Ireland by The Irish Times in 2012. It is set in an area rich in history, culture, bounded by stunning landscapes and has an abundance of activities for the visitor. Ardara is a traditional centre for tweed and knitwear production and there are several shops where these crafts can be viewed.. The visitor will find a number of excellent restaurants in the locality, as well as friendly pubs, several of which feature traditional music. There are four double beds sleeping 8 people. There is also a child’s cot and high chair available. Bed linen supplied. Towels are available on request @ €1 per towel per week. The area is ideally suited for touring, walking, fishing, golf at Nairn & Portnoo Golf Course, and safe bathing at Nairn beach which is 4km away. The sitting room is comfortable, featuring an open fireplace, a DVD player and TV with local and international stations. The Kitchen/Diner is well appointed containing fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave, and a solid fuel stove. Cooking utensils and full dining set supplied. The washing machine and dryer are in the utility room outside. Heating is oil fired and both oil and electricity are metered. The meters are read on arrival and departure Oil is charged at €1.00 per lt. and electricity at 20 cent per unit. Check in time 4pm. Check out 11am. Area Features The walker will find numerous country lanes, quite mountain tracks and long sandy beaches for walking. The Bluestack Way and the Sli Colmcille are two notable walks in the area. Ardara Heritage Centre provides a permanent exhibition on the history of Donegal tweed since the 19th Century. Enjoy some of the local beauty spots – Glengesh Pass, Maghera Caves, Assaranca Waterfalls and Loughros Point. Suggested daytrips are: Glenveagh National Park, Killybegs Fishing Port, Glencolumcille and the cliffs at Slieve League. Fishing is available on the Owenea River between Ardara and Glenties. Rates are negotiable, please contact the owners. We regret pets are not allowed.
