" Domhain Eile " , the gaelic for " another world " - heavenly views and countryside make this location truly " another world " ! This bright , spacious house has beautiful contemporary styling , is 4 years old and sleeps 8 people. The house is well situated on an elevated site on a quiet mountain road with spectacular views of Bear Island and it's lighthouse, Dunboy Castle, Bantry Bay, Mizen Head and the Atlantic. Accomodation comprises a well equipped kitchen ( to include large american fridge , dishwasher , 2 ovens and 6 ring hob ), laundry room and a bright dining room with french doors opening to the sea views. There is an open plan lounge area with comfy seating. The sitting room has a vaulted ceiling and open fire. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs ( one ensuite ) and one bedroom on ground floor which would suit an elderly or incapacitated person - adjacent to shower room and WC. All rooms furnished to a very good standard with wooden floors throughout to make this a very comfortable house. The house is in a great location for exploring West Cork . The rugged and unspoilt Beara Penninsula is often described as one of the most untamed and beautiful parts of Ireland. "Domhain Eile" provides a rare respite from the pace of city life for visitors from across the globe. Walk locally - there are a number of leisurely but rewarding walks nearby - explore the local historical sites ( including Derrintaggart stone circle) , enjoy sailing , fishing ( sea shore and fresh water) canoeing, golfing, traditional music, dining and socialising. The house is located on the famous Beara Way walking and cycling route for those who take their walking seriously ! The village of Allihies is 10 km away - watch the waves bashing Ballydonegan beach - en route you will pass the road to Dzogchen Beara the famous Tibetan Buddist Centre, Dursey is worth a visit and boasts Ireland's only cable car . Bear Island itself has a ferry service for foot passengers and cars and is a walkers' heaven. The pretty villages of Glengariff and Kenmare are close by - take a boat across to beautiful italian gardens at Garinish Island. The Healy Pass will take your breath away especially when you see Glanmore Lake shining below you. Gleninchiquin waterfall looks as though it was taken from a fairytale. Check out Ballycrovane harbour, the Hag of Beara, Dereen Gardens or go sailing or kayaking in Ardrigole. Visit MacCarthy's Bar in Castletownbere made famous in Pete MacCarthy's book - there's umpteen ways to enjoy your time .
