Description

Oughterard Galway - Ireland West

Annakeen is situated in an area of immense natural beauty, on the shore of Lough Corrib across from Ashford Castle in County Galway. The cottage sits on its own four acre grounds, with landscaped lawns and flowering shrubs. Large picture windows present lovely views of the land and surrounding landscape. A garage with ample parking is provided. The interior of Annakeen is furnished with good-quality fixtures and fittings. The fully fitted kitchen/dinning room area is spacious and the front lounge area has comfortable seating and offers beautiful views of the ever-changing lake. Annakeen has three attractive bedrooms with five comfortable single beds. The bathroom has a separate tub and shower stall. A guest information folder is available and provides comprehensive information on the house, the local services and tourist attractions. Some local diversions are a lake shore drive along the Glann Road, or perhaps dinner at the Currarevagh House(Michelin recommended, reservation required). Sports lovers can fish, or boat on the lake; golfers can enjoy a nearby course. A seasonal ferry makes trips to some of the 363 lake islands. The shops, cafes and restaurants in the village of Oughterard can be reached by a pleasant shoreline walk of 1.5 km. Oughterard is situated on the Galway-to-Clifden road, with a daily bus route schedule. Along this road and worth a visit are the Connemara marble emporium in Moycullen and Aughnanure Castle, a great tower house. Oughterard is an ideal base for touring the beautiful sights of Connemara, West Galway, and County Mayo.
