Glenribbeen Eco Lodge on the banks of the Blackwater between Cappoquin and Lismore, offers a ' holiday experience without the footprint ', as it has won the top E.U prize for eco - accommodation and now offers to smoke salmon caught by the guests on the premises in an old whiskey barrel. Glenribbeen also offers a canoe, bikes, kites and garden games to guests as well as music and archery lessons. Set in the rolling hills of west Waterford at the foot of the Knockmealdown Mountains, Glenribbeen is a haven of peace and yet, is also an activity centre. Catering for music lovers / learners and sports types, Glenribbeen Eco Lodge also offers an Irish traditional music school as well as an archery and canoeing / fishing centre. Glenribbeen has something to offer everybody. Glenribbeen also has solar heated water and its own hydro electric power plant. Glenribbeen was chosen by R.T.E TV eco friendly b&b to film October, 2008. Glenribbeen Eco Lodge won the E.U. Green Flower Award for eco - friendly accommodation in June 2009 and The Georgina Campbell " Good Food " Award, Sept 2009. Green Hospitality (Gold) Award 2010. We offer bikes, kites, canoe, garden games and fishing gear are dog friendly. We encourage outdoor activities and have a wet/dry rooms with shower and laundry area for guests.
