Lahinch Clare - Ireland West

The Home Internationals, The South of Ireland Championship, numerous Irish Amateur Championships, all have been played at Lahinch Golf Club. The great Mackenzie laid the foundation for the 100-plus years evolution of Lahinch, embellished in recent years by the celebrated designer Martin Hawtree. As traditional as you can get, Lahinch turns text books on their heads with blind par fours, fives and even, the infamous par three ‘Dell’, a crossing of holes at five and 18, yet it still ranks among the best in the country and attracts golfers by their thousands from all over the world. Martin Hawtree came to Lahinch in early 1999 and commenced his planning of proposed works to produce, as he said “a restored MacKenzie course" on the Old Course . Construction started in October 1999 and was successfully completed in March 2003.
