Directions

Start from the village of Glenamoy on the R314 between Belmullet and Ballycastle. Follow the R314 in the direction of Belmullet for approximately 2km to reacha road junction on your right (signposted Ross Port). Turn right and follow this road for approximately 12km (continuing straight at the turn-off for Ross Port) to reach the village of Carrowteigue (An Ceathru Tadhg). The trailhead is located beside the shop on your right as you enter the village.

Precisa de andar por sítios isolados para apreciar a pouco conhecida, mas imensamente gratificante, costa norte do condado de Mayo. Este atalho dá um vislumbre da beleza da área selvagem, com os seus promontórios rochosos, enseadas e penhascos muito altos. Esta é uma área mergulhada em tradições, onde a língua Irlandesa é muito falada. A escultura sobre “ The Children of Lir” é uma característica interessante, baseada na antiga lenda, em que uma família de crianças se transformava, como castigo, num grupo de Cisnes e eram condenadas a passarem centenas de anos a vaguear pelos campos locais. Afortunadamente para si, não será uma tarefa tão pesada como o foi para estas crianças.
