The Percy French Summer School will take place at Castlecoote House from the 12th to 18th July, 2009. On Wednesday, 12th July, at 19.00, the Percy French Summer School launch will take place at The Library, Abbey Street, Roscommon. At 20.00, there will be a performance 'Songs of Percy French' - Toni Walsh with Áine Ní Dhubhghaill (harpist). On Friday evening, 17th July, a reception will take place at 18.00, followed by the Opening Address by Michael D Higgins, TD, at 19.00. At 20.00, there will be a performance - 'Recitations and Songs of Percy French, with Simon Morgan and Dick Hogan with Teresa O'Donnell (harpist). Admission: €40, including light refreshments. On Saturday morning, there will be an illustrated talk by Bernadette Lowry - 'Lead Kindly Light'. Admission: €12. Concession: €10. At 11.00, there is a lecture by Carlo Gebler entitled 'What made me a writer'. At 12.00, Percy French in the novel 'Death and Nightingales'. Admission: €12. Concession: €10. Reading and talk by the author, Eugene McCabe. Gardens open at 13.00. From 15.00 to 17.00 - Film: 'The Last Trubador' starring Bill Golding. Admission: €12. Concession: €10. Panel discussion with Brian Munn and Joan Eagen. At 20.00, there will be a Percy French concert - Simon Morgan and Dick Hogan with Teresa O'Donell (harpist). Admission: €30, including light refreshments. Special rate of €50 for the full day. On Sunday, 19th July, there will be a lecture - 'Percy French in Ireland from 1957 to today', by Liam Byrne. Admission: €12; Concession: €10. At 12.15, there will be a Commemorative Service with Fr Fancis Byrne, Chairman of the Percy French Society. There will be light refreshments afterwards, and the gardens will be open.
