Carran —County Clare

Birthplace of Michael Cusack, co-founder of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) revival of the native games of hurling, Gaelic football and handball from 1884. A Harvard University team excavated the 9th century Cahercommaun Fort in 1934, and in the vicinity too are remains of 12th century and medieval period churches. The Burren Perfumery in Carran is Ireland's oldest working perfumery and is open to visitors. Caherconnell Stone Fort, one of the best preserved stone forts in The Burren, is also located near Carran.
