Carrive Folklore Society Walks

Fancy learning a little bit about the history and heritage of the Carrive area? Join the Carrive Folklore Society for a series of historical walks taking place between July and December 2012. These walks are specifically designed for those who enjoy the outdoors but who are also keen to learn about local history and folklore.
On 29th July join Michael McGuigan for the Carrigan Walk - a 4 mile walk passing Carrigan Flax Mill, down to Carrigan Lake, back to the old Reilig and return to Carrive Scrapyard.
On 26th August join Michael once again for the Tullydonnell Walk - an informative 4 mile walk by a well known cave, a rath and a quarry.
On 30th September take part in the Legmoylin Walk - a 5 mile walk by the Cully water, Knoc na Luba and the Plantation, before returning to Carrive Grove.
On 28th October rejoin Michael for the Cashel Walk - a 5 mile walk which will enable you to see the old relic, passing down to Cashel Crossrads where dances were held in years gone by, onto the famous lakes and Cashel Bridge, before returning to Carrive Scrapyard.
As the winter sets in, brave the cold and accompany Michael on the atmospheric Drumbilla Walk - a five mile walk which inlcudes a visit to an old ancient fort, Tobar Doney Holy Well, the old forge and lime kiln.
Finally, take part in some festive excercise with the Mullaban Walk on 30th December. This is a 5 mile walk, past Quilly Museum, up Slieve More, down by Clover HIll Golf Course and onto KIl na Cru before returning to Carrive Scrapyard.
