Howth village is situated 15km north-east of Dublin city centre. The trailhead is located at the start of the promenade beside the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transport) Station in Howth Village. The village is also served by the No. 31 and 31B buses from the city centre.

Questa semplice camminata rappresenta la pausa perfetta dalla frenesia della città, grazie anche alla sua vicinanza a Dublino, a soli 15 km. A Howth Head, immortalata nell’Ulisse di James Joyce, c’è un vivace paesino con una torre a Martello ed un faro. La passeggiata inizia al centro del paese, costeggia il porto e quindi si avventura lungo un sentiero di collina, fino alla cima, da cui si possono godere panorami mozzafiato. Gli amanti della natura non si lascino sfuggire la vista delle foche che nuotano al largo, ed anche una sosta al santuario degli uccelli di Ireland’s Eye (un’isoletta raggiungibile via mare).
